VEPPAMPATTU SHIVA TEMPLES

1. KAILASANADHAR TEMPLE Distance: 4kms from Thirunindravur Shiva: Kailasanadhar  This Linga was neglected and found with a Nandhi in a corner of the road about 12 years back. No one attended the Linga. After some months the Nandhi was stolen. Later the people who resided in the place close to the Linga worshipped the Linga and performed Pooja and Alankara on auspicious days. But the people of the area did not attend or worship the Linga. Later the family which worshipped this linga sold their house and went to a different place. This Linga was neglected and thrown in the corner of the road.  Most of the people in Veppampattu were unaware of the linga even at that time. A good hearted temple Gurukkal named Narasimhan found this Linga and placed it in his Poongavanathamman temple. Since he did not know the name of Shiva he named it as Rajagubaraeswarar. He felt that worshipping this Linga would yield all types of wealth and therefore he named the linga as Raja Gubera Eeswar...

PERUMBAKKAM SHIVA TEMPLE

PERUMABAKKEESWARAR TEMPLE The Linga has a square Aavudaiyar. The ancient temple was big. All the deities of a Shiva temple are found in this temple. There is a pond near this temple. The Sthala Virukshas of the temple were Peepal Tree and Vilva tree. This temple was worshipped by Sage Agasthya. Agasthya was blessed by lord Shiva in this placed. The place was erlier called Perum Bakkiyam and Shiva Perum Bakkiya Eeswarar. The people who worshipped Shiva here were believed to be blessed with all goodness in their lives. The temple was completely destroyed and only the Linga and Nandhi was left behind. The Linga was found under a tree. Later a very small temple was built for the Linga. Now a temple has been built for the Lord.  AS OF 2008 AS OF 2012

VENGAIVASAL SHIVA TEMPLE

SORNAPUREESWARAR TEMPLE The original name of Shiva was Vengeeswarar/Vyakrapureeswarar. The name of the village has derived the name as Vengaivasal from the name of Shiva. This Linga was worshipped by Sage Vyakrapadhar. This was a brick temple. Only Shiva and Nandhi were found in this temple. Shiva has a round Aavudaiyar. The Linga is a Suyambhu Linga. The impression of tiger's nails are found on the Linga. Sage Vyakrapadhar stayed in this place and worshipped Shiva here for a Long period of time. The Theertham of this temple is Vyakra Theertham which was created by Vyakrapadhar. Indhiran has also worshipped this Linga. This temple was found near fields. Lord Shiva gave Mango fruit to Vyakrapadhar when he was hungry. Later a small roof was built. Now a temple has been constructed with all the deities pertaining to the Shiva temple. KOVILANCHERY SHIVA TEMPLE

CHANDRACHOODAESWARAR TEMPLE This temple is a brick temple. The Linga has a round Aavudaiyar. The theertham of this temple is Chandra Theertham. Chandran worshipped Shiva here with Lotus flowers. Only Vinayaka, Shiva and Nandhi were present in the temple in acient days. There were 2 inscriptions in the temple. Chandran performed penance on one leg in this temple. There were no gates for the temple. A new temple has been built for the deity now.

NEMILICHERI SHIVA TEMPLES

AGASTHEESWARAR TEMPLE Nemilicheri is situated near Chrompet. The Linga is big with round Aavudaiyar. This temple was worshipped by Sage Agasthya. The Sthala Viruksha of this temple is Azhinjil tree. The Theertham of this temple is Agasthya Theertham created by Agasthya. The Name of Amman is Aanandhavalli. The temple is maintained well. The Pancha koshta deities are present in the temple. There are also Sannidhis of Chandikeswarar, Bhairavar and Navagrahas. The Naagar, Vinayaka and Nandhi are found under a tree on a dais outside the temple.
