OTTIYAMBAKKAM SHIVA TEMPLES
OTTEESWARAR TEMPLE
Ottiyambakkam is situated near 9kms from Sholinganallur. This is a brick temple. The Linga is big with round Aavudaiyar. The Linga has a shining body. The temple is built in Gajaprishta style. There was a pond near by this temple. This temple was situated among paddy fields. Later the temple was destroyed by many invasions and time and the temple has been newly built for the deity. Now the temple is amidst houses.
AGASTHEESWARAR TEMPLE
This temple was worshipped by Agasthya. The Linga has a round Aavudaiyar. Agasthya created a Pond and it is called as Agasthya Theertham. The temple had only Linga and Nandhi. Later the temple was destroyed and the Nandhi was broken. Only the Linga was left behind. When the Otteeswarar temple was rebuilt this Linga was placed in the Otteeswarar temple. Even now we can find the Linga in the Prahara of the Otteeswarar temple.
