AYAPAKKAM AND AYANAMBAKKAM SHIVA TEMPLES
1. SIVAYOGANADHAR TEMPLE
This temple is situated is Mel Ayanambakkam. The name of this Shiva is Prasuramaeswararar. This temple was worshipped by Parasuramar. This is one of the Dasavadhara temples around Ayanambakkam. This temple was a stone temple built by the Cholas. The Cholas built this temple with many new type of deities and all Prahara deities were carved differently. This temple was destroyed and only the Linga and Nandhi was found in a corner. Now a small temple has been built and the name has been changed to Ayanapureeswarar. The Theertham of this temple is Parasurama Theertham and Sthala Viruksha is Vilva.
4. RAMESWARAR TEMPLE
This temple is found deep inside Ayanambakkam about 500mtrs from Parasuramaeswarar temple. This temple was worshipped by Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana. This temple has a place is Thiruverkadu Vedhapureeswarar Sthala Purana. In ancient days there was a special Ashta Vakra Sannidhi in this temple. This is one of the temples worshipped by Ashta Vakran in this area. This temple was a stone temple which was situated in 1acre of Land. From ancient history we come to know that there were 108 pillared Mandapa outside the temple. There were carvings of many deities and inscriptions in the pillars. This temple is one of the Dasavadhara temples of Ayanambakkam. Only a Linga was found submerged in the Ground about 10 years back. Now a small roof has been built for Shiva and a Nandhi has been placed in front of the Linga. There is no trace of any ancient temple here.
5. KANNUDAI EESWARAR TEMPLE
This temple is found near Vivekanandha Vidhyalaya of Ayanambakkam. The name of this temple is Kannaeswarar which has been changed to Kannudaiyeeswarar. This temple was worshipped by Krishna. This is one of the Dasavathra temples of Ayanambakkam. The Linga is Suyambhu and Big in size. This was a stone temple built by the Cholas. In those days the Amman of this temple is slightly tilted. Now there is no Amman and the Shiva was found under a tree. Now a small temple has been constructed for the deity. The Baana of the Linga has some desections. The Theertham is Krishna Theertham.
This temple is situated near MKB Nagar of Ambattur. The original name of this Shiva was Brahmapureeswarar. This temple was worshipped by Brahma. Since Brahma resided here and worshipped Lord Shiva this place was called as Ayanpakkam (Ayan means Brahma). Ayanpakkam has now been divided into Ayapakkam and Ayanambakkam. There were related stories connected with Ayanpuram Brahmapureeswarar (Parasuramaeswarar). This is a Suyambhu Linga which is big in size. There were many inscriptions on the walls of the ancient temples but now only the Linga was found and a small temple has been built for it. This temple is one of the Pancha Brahma Kshetras. This temple was worshipped by Danavasura. He worshipped this Shiva for a Long period and obtained the power of Sinking any person in any ocean from any place.

2. PANIMUTHU LINGAESWARAR TEMPLE
This temple is found inside the TNHB quarters. The older name of this Shiva is Jalakandaeswarar. This Linga was taken near the lake from the Lake by a person who has built a small temple in the corner of the lake.
